To downgrade your Android device from current OS to previous one first you need to download the OTA update of your device. After that you need to download Odin tool and follow the instructions to install this OTA update on your device. You need to use Odin tool to install this update. Recovery mode is needed to wipe out the data of your current OS. You can follow the same article and can download the firmware from XDA-Developers page. Let your hands do the job, search for the update and install it now.

Is there any way to downgrade without deleting all data on the phone? Basically downgrading just the same way it upgraded?

    Thanks

Hi Matthew – very nice guide of this. Thanks.
I have question – what will I lose in terms of Apps functionality from 4.1.2 that is not available in 4.0.4 (or better?) for my Galaxy Note N7000? Will these apps work?
    1. Google Now?
    2. Google Maps? And it Navigation?
    Thanks. Richard.

hi. my note 10.1 (n8000) was using stock JB 4.1.2 (crappy charging problem) then i rooted and installed OmegaRom (still crappy charging problem).

now i want to just downgrade to stock ICS which doesn’t have the charging problem. do i just follow these steps?

btw, my n8000 is factory unlock, upon looking at sammobile, i get 3 choices for 3 different networks for ICS. which do i choose? can i choose any of those 3 without risking anything? (like locking it to a specific network?)

    Hi,
Thank you very much for the detailed instructions I have just downgraded my Note from JB to ICS. Finally I am back in the fast lane :)

Only pain in the process was the reset of data and re-installation of all the apps, then to tidy up the pages to my liking. But it was all well worth it.

    Cheers.

    Applause!!

Honestly I’ve never seen a better nor a clearer step by step spoonfed article than this.

I initially had trouble connecting my Samsung note to the PC but this has nothing to do with the steps here. I guess my note got old and dirt gathered at the micro charger port; it could charge but it couldn’t transfer data. I had to replace it and followed the steps above and it worked like a charm.

    Mathew, thank you!
